83 Nigerians deported from UK - Those deported are residents whose documents had expired - Prisoners whose terms of imprisonment were almost completed were also deported Just few days after the United States under the administration President Donald Trump put a ban on immigrants from seven Muslim-majority countries, the United Kingdom has also deported 83 Nigerians. The deportees arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, early morning of Wednesday, February 1. Among those deported are residents whose documents had expired and prisoners who have almost completed their prison term. The deportees were received by Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), police men and aviation security personnel. According to Punch, the spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency, South-West Zone, Ibrahim Farinloye, said the deportees were expected to be in the country at 5 a.m.

The EFCC seized a property in Abuja belonging to George Turnah' - The anti-graft agency had earlier taken over his Bayelsa mansion The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has seized an Abuja mansion belonging to George Turnah, godson to former president, Goodluck Jonathan. The anti-graft agency in its official facebook page showed that the mansion located at 2A9 CITEC Estate, Abuja has been sealed. This is the second operation the EFCC will carry out at on properties belonging to Turnah as his Bayelsa property was also seized. we learnt that one of the properties covered by the forfeiture order is a massive complete building known as ‘KOLO VILLA’ in Kolo Town, Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa state. The EFCC said apart from the properties, the court also ordered the taking over of some accounts belonging to the suspect. Justice Ibrahim Watilat had granted the interim forfeiture order based on an application filed before the court by the EFCC's counsel, Adebola Olatunji. Meanwhile, thousands of angry youths in Bayelsa state on Tuesday staged a demonstration in support of the EFCC over the arrest and detention of Turna, former special adviser to an erstwhile Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). -allegedly-stolen The youths, under the aegis of the Concerned Citizens of Bayelsa state and led by their coordinators, Chief Harrow Zuokomor and Comrade Abule Bethel, said though the state was still in shock at the magnitude of seized funds and projects it was meant for in some parts of the state, the protest was to commend the EFCC and ask the anti-graft agency to return the seized fund to the state for development purposes. Juliet Chime shared these photos of a newborn baby she rescued from under Coker bridge, Lagos state. The baby was already beaten by rain before she found her. Luckily, she is alive and receiving treatment at the hospital. Juliet wrote; "I just picked a baby girl frm under coker bridge beating by d rain. A military officer with the (5BN) at Burma Camp in Accra was on Monday, May 29th, lynched by residents of Denkyira Boaso of the Central region who mistook him for an armed robber. Captain Maxwell Mahama who is commander of a military detachment in the area was jogging along the Denkyira Boaso-Diaso road when he asked some women for direction. He was not in a uniform. The women reportedly called the Assembly man who organized the youths of the town to lynch him. They later burnt his body. Meanwhile, Ghana Armed Forces have commenced investigations into the murder. The incident has sent heightened anxiety within the town after the perpetrators of the heinous crime realised the deceased was a military man on official duty. The Armed Forces in a statement signed by the Director of Public Relations, Col. Aggrey-Quarshie said a fact-finding team led by the Chief of Army Staff is proceeding to the area to gather more information about the development. "A high-powered fact-finding team led by the Chief of the Army Staff is proceeding to the scene of the incident to ascertain the facts of the case." He said they were collaborating with the police and other security agencies to bring perpetrators to book. “GAF is working closely with the police and other security agencies to unravel the full facts of the case.” According to the Armed Forces, its “Initial report indicates the officer was lynched by locals of Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region whilst he was jogging at about 08.30 am on Monday 29 May 2017, under circumstances yet to be verified.” "The officer was the detachment commander of our troops on operational duties in the general area." The Armed Forces has also urged its personnel to remain calm as the due procedure is taken to bring the perpetrators to book.
